Abstract
Tunneling experiments and measurements of the lattice specific heat have been performed on amorphous and crystalline Tl(+Te) films. The Eliashberg function α2 F(ω) of the amorphous state shows characteristic contributions at low energies. The lattice specific heat at 1 K is increased by a factor of three due to the structural disorder. A comparison of both measurements confirms that phonon softening as well as an increase of the electron-phonon interaction for low-energy phonons contribute to the strong coupling in the amorphous state. The different contributions are discussed.
