Eliashberg theory for disordered superconductors. I. Tunneling into three-dimensional systems

Abstract

We consider the effect of changes in the Coulomb interaction due to the diffusive nature of propagation of the electron density fluctuations in three dimensional weakly disordered strong coupling superconductor on the low temperature tunneling density of states. Our results are completely consistent with the experimental finding of a negligible Coulomb effect in disordered A-15Nb−Sn.

  37. By comparing (3.12), (3.14), (5.9) and (5.10) of [7] we conclude that a factor 1/2 is missing in front of the sum in (5.10). This does not appear to be a missprint, since the same factor is missing in (2.20) of [8], which is an approximate form of (5.10) in [7]. Thus, it appears that disorder enhancement of the Coulomb vertices has been overestimated in [7,8]. Moreover, there are contributions to the density susceptibility of the vertex correction type to the fan diagram (see Fig. 4 if [36]) which are of the same order of magnitude as the contribution of maximally crossed (i.e.fan) diagram, but which have not been included in [7,8]

  38. As we explain further below, we eventually had to abandon the numerical solution of the gap equations with the dynamical screening because of the convergence problems

  39. DP-corrections prove to be negligible ifq c →0 andE c1 →0 and are therefore not discussed in detail
