Abstract
We investigate in this paper both the stability of almost periodic and (more generally) aperiodic systems against thermodynamical fluctuations with main emphasis on interface structures. The general setting is classical statistical mechanics of point particles interacting via pair potentials. Furthermore we relate the stability questions to the asymptotic behavior of the pair correlation functionH(r, r′). In the course of doing this we develop various (possibly new) concepts and techniques which may be of use in a wider context in studying these systems in general.
