Summary
Escherichia coli-derived human interferon-γ (rIFN-γ) inhibited the replication of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) synergistically when combined with IFN-α. The induction of HCMV DNA polymerase was inhibited in rIFN-γ-treated cells. It is suggested that the induction of 2–5 A synthetase does not play an important role in the anti-HCMV actions of IFNs.
