Abstract

An exact solution of Maxwell's equations is found, corresponding to ans-polarized nonlinear surface polarition, at the planar interface between two dielectric media, one of which is optically unaxial and is characterized by a diagonal dielectric tensor whose elements depend on the amplitude of the electric field according to ε11220(ω)+a(ω) (|E 1|2+|E 2|2), ε33=ε(ω). Such modes have no counterpart in the corresponding linear system.
