Resonance behaviour near Hopf bifurcations in the electrical conductivity of BSN crystals

  • Published:
Zeitschrift für Physik B Condensed Matter

Abstract

The amplitude of the ac-voltage resulting from an external periodic modulation of the current density applied to BSN crystals exhibits a Lorentzian type resonance prior to a Hopf bifurcation. The resonance peak is near the internal oscillation frequency which would appear at the bifurcation. As the bifurcation point is approached the resonance peak becomes narrower and higher, in fair agreement with theoretical predictions. Increasing the amplitude of the modulation signal results in a loss of the frequency selectivity and a saturation of the gain.
