Self-trapping of a dipole coupled to a lattice: Application of a new theoretical method to an old problem

Abstract

The static and dynamic properties of a spin-1/2 dipole with a transverse coupling to phonons are calculated using a generalization of a perturbation theory developed originally by Keiter, Kimball, Grewe, and Kuramoto for intermediate valence systems.
