Conclusions

We worked out the main specifications for the manufacture of lightweight forsterite by the combustible additive method

Lightweight forsterite may be used in the working lining at 1500–1550° without suffering mechanical effect or the effect of melted metal or slag; it may be used at the same temperature for intermediate heat insulation at the contact point between magnesite, magnesite-chrome and chrome-magnesite brick. Industrial tests should be carried out to find out more about the field in which forsterite lightweight brick can be used
