Conclusions
The physicochemical and thermomechanical properties of the following commercial aluminosilicate refractories have been studied: fireclay classes A and B, kaolin, and high-alumina (50 and 62% Al2O3). The deformation and creep rate of the refractories have been determined in the range 900–1400°C under a load of from 1 to 10 kg/cm2. On the basis of the results obtained, we have established the permissible temperature limits and loads for using the refractories in the checkers of the blast heaters of blast furnaces.
We have made recommendations for improving the thermomechanical properties of high-alumina refractories by introducing a jointly ground mixture of fireclay and koalin or clay and by using Novoselits kaolin in the manufacture of high-alumina fireclay.
