Refractories Aims and scope

Conclusions

The possibility of crack formation in refractory bricks under the conditions of unilateral heating was theoretically demonstrated. The relationship between the tensile stresses responsible for chip (split) formation and the dimensions of the bricks was studied. Certain recommendations were given with regard to the choice of the specimen dimensions for conducting an experimental study on the permissible heating rates of the refractory linings.
