Conclusions

We investigated the effect of different technological factors on the strength of green dinas during preparation and pressing of the mixtures. We determined the parameters of the composition and pressing conditions of the mixtures ensuring green material with maximum strength.

We determined and confirmed by experiment the analytical relationships between the compressive strength and bending strength of freshly-pressed green material and the porosity and pressing pressure, as well as the link between the compressive strength and bending strength of both dried and freshly-pressed green dinas. We have given an interpretation of the coefficients in the equations which can be used in industry for purposes of verification when preparing mixtures and pressing the green material. The strength of green dinas may be improved by using high pressing pressure and adhesive additives which increase the cohesion of the dinas mixtures.

We have shown that green dinas may be made comparatively strong and capable of withstanding considerable mechanical pressure.

The use of green dinas with high density will reduce wastage and provide the opportunity of batching it in a freshly pressed state on furnace cars for drying and subsequent firing without rearrangement (3).

We established the possibility of improving the strength of freshly-pressed green material by the action of the physico-chemico properties of the wetting agent dross. An increase in the surface tension of the dross and work of adhesion on the dross-quartzite separation boundary increasesσ c andσ b in the freshly pressed material.
