Summary

The limiting factor in kidney transplantation in Germany is still the significant shortage of donors. It is necessary for all major general hospitals to serve as donor centers and to be affiliated with a transplantation center. The experiences and five-year results of twenty donornephrectomies are reported. A selfless campaign by all major community general hospitals could effectively reduce the shortage of donors.

Zusammenfassung

Der Mangel an geeigneten Spendernieren ist immer noch der Hauptgrund für die in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland zu niedrige Transplantationsfrequenz. Der entscheidende ärztliche Schritt zur Verringerung des bestehenden Spendermangels muß die Initiative geeigneter Kliniken sein, funktionierende Donorzentren aufzubauen. Es werden die Erfahrungen eines Schwerpunktkrankenhauses bei der Entnahme von zwanzig Leichennieren und Fünf-Jahres-Ergebnisse der Transplantatfunktionsraten mitgeteilt.
