Conclusions

When a number of zirconia mixtures for the manufacture of parts were tested, the best results were shown by those made from mixtures containing 45 – 50% fraction 1.5 – 0. 5 mm and 55 – 60% finer than 0. 088 mm.

The addition of 5 to 10% clay as a binder to the zirconia mixture considerably improves the pressing operation, improves the density of the parts after drying and firing and makes it possible to reduce the firing temperature.

The fine fractions of fired zirconia can be partially replaced by crude zirconia.

Small size parts can be made from the crude zirconia.
