Conclusions

Tips for immersion thermocouples were made from a mixture of kaolin and aluminum powder, fired in a nitrogen stream, under laboratory conditions. The tests in melted steel, pig iron, melted aluminum, zinc, cadmium, lead, tin and bismuth showed the good working properties of the tips.

The production technique put forward is simple and the initial materials are inexpensive.
