Refractories Aims and scope

Conclusions

A method of determining the life of tar-bonded oxygen converters was proposed.

For the tar-periclase refractories of Karaganda Metallurgical Combine a nomogram was drawn making it possible to determine the theoretical life of the first layer of the lining from the results of measurement of the viscosity of the prepared tar or experimental determination of the coefficient of surface diffusion of the oxides on the refractory and to evaluate the effectiveness of guniting on the basis of a comparison with the actual results of routine inspection.
