Conclusions
Materials and production methods used at present by refractory plants for increasing the service life of mixer scrapers do not satisfy production needs. The instability of the service characteristics of scrapers with type VK hard alloy facings and also the extreme shortage and high cost limit the volume of their use. The facing materials (sormite, T-590, KBKh, etc.) are insufficiently wear resistant and do not solve the problem of life of mixer scrapers. Of the standard facing materials the alloy faced with PP-AN170 powder wire possesses the highest wear resistance under mixer scraper service conditions.
For facing of mixer scrapers PP-ZMI-2 powder wire, which is the optimum and provides a 1.3–1.6 times increase in wear resistance in comparison with facing by PP-AN170, has been developed.
A rational method of production of scrapers with increased wear resistance has been developed. The introduction of it at Semiluki Refractory Plant and Podol'sk Refractory Part Plant has made it possible to obtain an annaul saving of more than 90,000 rubles.
