Conclusions
The kinetics and the features of sintering and strengthening of ZrO2 with additions of 4 and 6% by weight of CaO were studied. With an increase in the concentration of CaO from 4 to 6% by weight there is an acceleration in the transfer of matter, connected with an increase in the defects in the crystal lattice and reinforcement of the diffusion processes, and we also observe a more rapid grain growth and an increase in the strength of the material with an increase in temperature, but this retards the process of densification.
It is confirmed that the shrinkage kinetics of mixtures of ZrO2 and CaO independent of the degree of stabilization of the zirconium dioxide, are proportional to τ1/2 in the period of removal of open pores and τ1/3 in the subsequent period involving removal of the closed pores.
