Conclusions

We investigated the conditions for obtaining high-density (with zero open porosity) ceramics from fused silica glass.

We clarified the optimum conditions for slip casting which would enable us to obtain dense (porosity up to 9–11%) casting with a compressive strength of up to 900 kg/cm2.

We also showed the relationship between initial (surface) crystallization of the material and the temperature and firing time.

We established the influence of original porosity of the castings on their sintering and crystallization. The strength properties of the materials are given.
