Conclusions

The principal conditions for preparing casting molds having a maximum of refractoriness and chemical stability were established on the basis of oxide thermodynamic stability and the reaction mechanism of molten titanium with the molds.

Of the possible combinations of casting mold base and binder, the optimum ones are those in which the base and binding material are the same or nearly so in physical properties.
