Conclusions
Grinding of materials when mixed in edge-runner mixers is unimportant, because of speed differences across the width of the roll, compared with the rolling action exerted on the materials by the rolls.
The work done by different types of mixing machines can be compared by examining their mix process parameters, determined by the methods described.
The most important factors to be considered in evaluating the operation of mixers treating refractory materials are the specific compressive forces applied and the frequency with which the load is applied.
