Conclusions

The use of quartz waste from Prosyanovka kaolin as a substitute for quartzite in mixtures used for rammed converter bottoms had no effect on their wear resistance during service, and made it possible to eliminate costly operations in grinding and crushing quartzites, and to reduce the cost of the rammed mixture by using the cheaper kaolin waste.
