Summary
YoungAcetabularia mediterranea cells without cap have a fatty acid composition different from other green algae currently used for biological research. They contain important quantities of palmitic and oleic acid, but are very poor in polyunsaturated fatty acids such as linoleic and linolenic acid. (These polyunsaturated fatty acids are predominant in higher plants and many green algae.)
