Summary
A simple and rapid kinetic method for determination of the initial concentration and rate constant is proposed. The method is based upon three samples of the reaction process. The instant of the first sampling as well as the sampling interval can be arbitrarily chosen provided that the sampling rate is uniform.
For the first- and second-order reactions the formulas are derived which can be especially advantageous in those situations when both the initial and final portions of reaction process cannot be determined by direct measurement.
The experimental results show that the proposed method gives fairly accurate estimates on the basic reaction parameters, the relative error being below 5%. The total sampling time required for an evaluation is approximately equal to the rate constant of the analyzed reaction.
