Summary

The authors describe an experimental study (14 dogs) and clinical work (24 patients) carried out to evaluate the diagnostic value of tissue pH-measurement as well as of venous lacticemia in chronic arterial occlusion of the lower limbs.

Lactic cannot facilitate any significant data for histological complaints. However, tissue pH measurement can be considered a true reflex of the metabolic state of tissues subjected to ischemia.
