Surgical treatment of 50 cases with thoracic outlet syndrome

Summary

56 operations were performed on 50 patients with thoracic outlet syndrome. 36 cases could be followed up clinically and by angiography. The largest group of symptom-free patients was found after transaxillary resection of the first rib combined with scalenotomy. The phonoangiographic controls were in correspondance with the symptoms and clinical signs.

Zusammenfassung

Bei 50 Patienten mit Schultergürtelsyndrom wurden 56 Operationen durchgeführt. 36 Patienten konnten klinisch und phonoangiographisch nachkontrolliert werden. Die meisten beschwerdefreien Patienten fanden sich nach transaxillärer vollständiger Resektion der 1. Rippe mit Scalenotomie. Die phonoangiographischen Kontrollen korrelierten mit den subjektiven Angaben und den klinischen Befunden.
