Zusammenfassung
Die Struktur und das Verhalten der Chromosomen vonAloe eru Berger wurden vom prämeiotischen Ruhekern an bis zum Pachytän beschrieben.

Der prämeiotische Ruhekern besitzt fädige Struktur. Seine Chromosomen zeigen eine Längsgliederung in euchroniatische und heterochromatische Abschnitte; letztere sind dicker und stärker färbbar als erstere. Beide Chromatinarten finden sich in sämtlichen Chromosomenabschnitten, jedoch sind einige Regionen besonders reich an Heterochromatin. Die Färbbarkeit der Chromosomen nimmt im Verlauf der meiotischen Prophase zu und betrifft hauptsächlich die heterochromatischen Segmente.

Bis zum Leptotän werden die Reliktspiralen des Ruhekerns durch Entspiralisierung aufgehoben. Die Chromosomen sind in diesem Stadium weitestgehend gestreckt.

Im späten Leptotän beginnt die meiotische Spiralisation mit einer feinen Wellung der Chromosomen. Zu Beginn der Paarung ist sie weiter fortgeschritten, so daß im Pachytän die Chromosomen bereits eine beträchtliche Kontraktion aufweisen.

Die vor der Chromosomenpaarung einsetzende Spiralisation hat die Bildung von Anorthospiralen zur Folge, welche die freie Trennbarkeit der Chromosomen garantieren.

In den untersuchten Stadien finden sich Chromomeren vom Leptotän an bis zum Pachytän; sie sind das optische Erscheinungsbild gewisser auf bestimmte Stadien beschränkter Spiralisationseffekte von vorwiegend heterochromatischen Segmenten.
