9. Krebschemotherapie bei inkurablen Krebskranken?

Summary

Despite the rapid advances in carcinochemotherapy, the possibilities for the treatment of solid tumors are rather limited, so that the advantages and disadvantages of chemotherapy must be very carefully considered in each case of incurable cancer. It should also be emphasized that there are several tumor types in which skillful application of chemotherapy does not only lead to an objective improvement in the clinical findings but also prolongs the patient's life.

Zusammenfassung

Zusammenfassend möchte ich noch einmal betonen, daß trotz der schnellen Fortentwicklung der Chemotherapie des Krebses, ihre Möglichkeiten bei der Behandlung solider Tumoren ziemlich beschränkt sind. Deshalb ist es notwendig in jedem Einzelfall bei inkurablen Patienten das Pro and Contra für eine Chemotherapie sorgfältig zu überdenken. Es gibt, auch dieses sei hervorgehoben, mehrere Tumortypen bei denen eine geschickte Anwendung der chemotherapeutischen Möghchkeiten nicht nur zur objektiven Besserung des klinischen Befundes führt, sondern das Leben des Patienten verlängert.
