Histology and diagnosis of vessel-deficient kidney tumors

Summary

The differential diagnosis of avascular renal tumors and cysts, renal abscesses, pyonephrosis, xantogranulomatous pyelonephritis and renal tuberculosis will not be possible in all cases even when clinical examination, urography, nephrotomography, angiography and retrograde pyelography are included. All dubious cases and all cysts identified by radiodiagnosis should be exposed surgically. The poorly vascularised renal tumors belong to well—defined groups. These are hypernephroid carcinomas with central necrosis, tubular-papillary adenocarcinomas, malignant degenerated adenomas, hamartoblastomas, hemangio-endotheliomas, transitional cell carcinomas and metastatic renal tumors. The radiological peculiarities and the value of the different diagnostic procedures are demonstrated in detail based on the experience with own patients.

Zusammenfassung

Die Differentialdiagnose von gefäßarmen Nierentumoren zu den Cysten, Nierenabszessen, Pyonephrosen, xanthogranulomatösen Pyelonephritiden und der Nierentuberkulose wird trotz Berücksichtigung von Klinik, Urographie, Nephrotomographie, Angiographie und retrograder Pyelographie nicht in allen Fällen möglich sein. Zweifelhafte Fälle und alle röntgenologisch nachgewiesenen Cysten sollten operativ freigelegt werden. Die gefäßarmen Nierentumoren gehören histologisch bestimmten Gruppen an. Es sind dies die hypernephroiden Carcinome mit zentraler Nekrose, die tubulär-papillären Adenocarcinome, die maligne entarteten Adenome, die Hamartoblastome, Hämangioendotheliome, Übergangszellcarcinome und metastatische Tumoren in der Niere. Die röntgenologischen Besonderheiten und der Wert der einzelnen diagnostischen Maßnahmen werden an Hand von einzelnen Fällen aus dem eigenen Krankengut ausführlich dargestellt.
