Summary
Rifampicin at concentrations of 100 μg/ml inhibits the growth of variola minor virus in HeLa cells. Synthesis of viral RNA, DNA, and early and late antigens occur in the presence of inhibitory concentrations of the drug, and its precise mode of action remains unclear.
