Summary
The action of ethidium bromide (EB) on the development of vaccinia virus may be attributed to the combination of EB with cellular and viral DNA blocking their duplications and decreasing their transcriptions. The results obtained byWaring (10) suggest that this inhibitory action may be attributed to the inhibitory action of EB on DNA-polymerase and RNA-DNA-dependent-polymerase.
