Summary
The influence of DNP on the developing sea urchin embryo was studied by means of time-lapse cinematography and staining methods. In the concentrations of DNP which affect oxidative phosphorylation cleavage is rapidly brought to a standstill. DNP inflicts morphological changes of the mitochondria, which also show a lowered affinity for Janus green B. Some new aspects on the effect of DNP on morphogenesis are discussed.
