Summary

Whether these and perhaps other systems for facilitating the reabsorption of almost all the sodium filtered at the glomeruli are complementary, or whether the Na+/K+-dependent ATP-ase Na+/K+ pump represents a final common component of a complex of systems for maintenance of the electrolyte transport and balance across these cells invites further inquiry.
