Summary

A Portable Shear Box for Testing Rock Joints

The authors describe their early work on the development and operation of a portable shear box for testing rock joints. Experiences with sampling, roughness assessments, testing techniques and test interpretation using the shear box are outlined. More recent modifications and developments are also discussed, and a number of test results are presented.
