Abstract

A brief account of the chemistry of organotins and organoleads is given. After a short presentation of industrial applications of these organometallic compounds, some physico-chemical data are given. Then, industrial and laboratory scale preparations of tetraorganotins and leads are detailed, and synthesis and chemical properties of organotin and lead halides, hydrides, oxides and sulfides are successively discussed. The chemistry of hydride derivatives, important compounds in trace metal analysis, is particularly considered.
