Summary
Non-purified preparations produced in the serum and peritoneal exudate granulocytes of rabbits in response to polyriboinosinic∶polyribocytidylic acid (poly I∶C) were examined by electrofocusing. The isoelectric profile of rabbit serum interferon showed 7 peak activities, the most distinct ones being located at pH 4.4, 4.8, and 6.0, respectively. The interferon from the culture of peritoneal exudate granulocytes eluted in 4 peaks only, the highest activities being at pH 7.0 and 7.7. The data obtained in this study are compared with those reported in the literature on isoelectric components of other rabbit interferons.
