Résumé
La caractérisation des souches de poliovirus isolées dans les suspensions fécales d'enfants atteints de poliomyélite paralytique et d'enfants vaccinés avec le vaccin vivant a été effectuée grâce à deux techniques de marquage: le test rct/40 et le test de serodifférenciation intratypique (techniqueMac Bride).
La précision, la valeur et les limites de ces techniques ont été abordées en détail, en particulier lorsqu'il s'agit d'étudier les souches virales dans le cas de vaccinations effectuées dans un milieu déjà infecté par un poliovirus sauvage.
Ces études ont montré la grande stabilité antigénique des souches de poliovirus sauvage. Il semble donc qu'au cours des vaccinations effectuées en période épidémique la meilleure méthode pour différencier les souches de poliovirus, sauvage et vaccinal, consiste à effectuer des sérodifférenciations intratypiques croisées avec deux antisérums spécifiques l'un de la souche épidémique, l'autre de la souche vaccinale.
