Summary
Type C vesicular and carrier virus isolates from two farms were compared with regard to plaque formation in BHK-monolayers incubated at different temperatures. At temperatures below 37°C differences between the two categories were only slight. When incubated at higher temperatures, especially at 41°C late carrier isolates produced a smaller number of plaques than early ones or vesicular virus. Plaques formed by vesicular isolates reached maximal diameters when incubated at 40°C, whereas all carrier viruses developed the largest plaques at temperatures of 37°C.
