Summary

The effects of methyl substitution of the 6-position in the pyridine group has been studied by comparing the reactivity characteristics of cobalt with 2-acetylpyridine oxime and 2-acetyl-6-methyl-pyridine oxime. A 3∶1 ligand to metal ratio was found for the former and a 2∶1 for the latter. These results are not in agreement with previous findings by other workers. Comparison is also made with three other pyridineketoximes.
