Abstract
A particular case of controlled heterogeneous structures, i.e. layered controlled structures, is investigated. It is shown that efficient diffraction modulation of an optical signal can be obtained with the use of such media. The diffraction field in the far zone, the frequency spectrum, the modulation characteristic, and other dependences, describing amplitude modulation in controlled diffraction-type layered structures, are obtained.
