Abstract
Contact fusion in an inhomogeneous magnetic field has been accomplished. It was shown that the rate of contact melting in Bi-In, Bi-Sn, and Bi-Cd systems increases in the presence of a field and a weak disturbance of the diffusion process for the fusion, which results in a change in the concentration distribution of the components in the interlayer, is observed. The condition of the crystal-liquid boundaries was investigated by metallographic means. It was discovered that the bismuth-liquid boundaries are deformed in the presence of a field. At the same time, indium-liquid, tin-liquid, and cadmiumliquid boundaries are unchanged as in the absence of a field.
