Summary

Report of 27 neurogenic blastomas of the stomach and the small intestine within a period of approximately 25 years from a large and unselected surgical material primary mostly classified as of myogenious origin. The following conclusions were drawn:

  1. 1.

Feyrter's typing of small nerval blastomata is also to be applied to the larger ones: the fusiform variety, the multiform one and the reticular neuroma, as well as to the neurofibroma.

One type, probably of the reticular subvariety, meanwhile qualified as “neuroma with short and clumsy fusiform cells” is not amongstFeyrter's original type of neuromas.

  2. 2.

The structure of the reticulum in the gastrointestinal neuromas is of a definite and permanent shape within the different subvarieties.

  3. 3.

The larger neurogenic blastomata show signs of a malignant growth \3- against the so called mesenchymatous blastomas \3- microscopically proofed by a multitude of mitosis-formation.

  4. 4.

The very extensive literature on this subject describes neuromata of the gastro-intestinal tract not only under this proper name, but also erroneously in chapters dedicated to myofibroma, sarcoma and angiomata.
