Summary
The research ofGranit andEccles prouved 1957 the existence of tonic innervation of skeletal muscle beside the know phasic one. This fact had been expected a long time before as different that white and red, kind, phasics and tonics skeletal muscles were known.
Kuré and his school found a tonic parasympathic innervation of skeletal muscle just before forty years. These tonic fibres thinner as known phasic motoneuronefibres were leaving the spinal cord by the posterior horn.
The author thinks that the tonic nerves of the Japanese workers are identical with these ofGranit andEccles, whose experiments are not contradictory to this opinion.
After a critical view of the elder literature the author presumes that the fibre system ofHis in the heart muscle corresponds perhaps to the spindle-apparatus of skeletal muscle.
