Summary
This report is a contribution to the theory of the functional organisation of the brain. It is particularly concerned with correlations between the brain's cortex and the central neurovegetative representations.
The facts are indicated which show how the cortex is subordinated to the neurovegetative system in so far as their reactivity is regulated thereby. The most suggestive example is the control of the mechanisms of waking and sleeping and the adaptation of the stimulus threshold for producing optimal performance.
Finally the relation of experiences made by diencephalic stimulations with certain new E. E. G.-findings are discussed.
