Summary
-
1.
The authors have set up a conditioned reflex to a highly corticalised unconditioned reflex, the vascular reaction to nicotinic acid, and to the injection of saline solution plus measurement of skin temperature, as the conditioned stimulus.
-
2.
In a material composed of 40 neurotics and psychotics the conditions and mode of development of the conditioned reflex and the effect on it of strychnine, actedron, insulin and Largactil have been investigated.
-
3.
The method is suggested to be useful in studies of the higher nervous activities of mental patients, not accessible for study by other methods. Since the method makes use of an unconditioned stimulus that itself sensitively reacts to changes in central nervous activity, it is suggested that by comparing the conditioned and unconditioned reflexes one might gain an insight into the balance of forces between cortex and subcortex.
Zusammenfassung
-
1.
