Summary
The changes in the number of the circulating eosinophils could be produced through two mechanisms at least. The first mechanism goes through the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis (pathway No. 1); the second goes directly through the neurovegetative system (pathway No. 2). Drugs acting only through pathway No. 1 cause eosinophil changes, but their effect could be abolished by the blocking of the hypothalamus. Other drugs acting only through pathway No. 2 also cause eosinophil changes, but their action could not be abolished by nembutal. However, their action would fail by the blocking of the neurovegetative system. Still other drugs have an effect through both ways. Their effect could only be abolished by the simultaneous blocking of the hypothalamus and the neurovegetative system.
