Anordnung zur automatischen Bestimmung von Schmelz- und Siedepunkten

Zusammenfassung

Eine einfache Meßanordnung wird beschrieben, um Schmelz-bzw. Siedepunkte automatisch bestimmen zu können. Hierzu wird die in einer Schmelzpunktkapillare befindliche Probe, in die ein Mikrothermoelement als Temperaturfühler eintaucht, mittels einer voll transistorierten Regelanordnung mit vorgegebener hoher Geschwindigkeit (zirka 50° C pro Minute) aufgeheizt. Das von einem Schreiber registrierte Temperatur-Zeit-Diagramm besitzt im Umwandlungspunkt eine ausgeprägte Umwandlungszone konstanter Temperatur, die mit der Schmelz-bzw. Siedetemperatur identisch ist. Aus dem Verlauf der Umwandlungszone kann auf die Reinheit der eingesetzten Probe geschlossen werden. In 1 Stunde können zehn Schmelz-bzw. Siedepunkte mit einer Genauigkeit von ±0,5° C bestimmt werden, bei einem Substanzbedarf von wenigen Milligramm. Auch Kristallumwandlungen und Zersetzungspunkte werden von der Anordnung registriert.

A description is given of a simple measuring device for the automatic determination of melting and boiling points. The sample is contained in a melting point capillary and plunged into a microthermoelement that serves as temperature feeler, and heated by means of a fully transistorized regulating arrangement at a predetermined rate (ca. 50° C/min). The temperature time-diagram, registered by a recording pen, has a distinct conversion zone of constant temperature at the conversion point that is identical with the melting or boiling temperature. Conclusions may be drawn as to the purity of the sample from the character of the conversion zone. Ten melting or boiling points can be determined per hour with a precision of ±0.5° C and with an expenditure of only a few milligrams of the sample. The device will also register crystal transformations and decomposition points.
