Summary
Micro pyrolytic gas chromatography (PGC) is a very important tool in investigating macromolecular substances. The principal schemes of the techniques used at present are open, thus the behaviour of the sample and its changes during the measurement cannot be taken into consideration. This causes difficulties in selecting optimum conditions for PGC, and in evaluating the results. A suitable feedback can be achieved if simultaneously with PGC the DTA curve of the sample is recorded “on line” and its changes utilized for controlling the PGC. The realization of this requires high sensitivity of DTA measurements and high thermal symmetry of equipment. This leads to a remarkable increase in the sensitivity of the method.
