Summary
In most metallurgical uses of the spectrograph, the method replaces chemical methods when it can produce results adequate in accuracy and precision. The precautions necessary to permit reasonably accurate spectrochemical analysis of brass alloys are described. For minor elements the results are more exact than those obtained by gravimetric analysis. The method provides valuable information about the use of the background as internal standard for the analysis.
