Summary
2-Thenoyltrifluoroacetone is used for the extractive spectrophotometric determination of ruthenium at ph 4.0 (acetate buffer). Beer's law is obeyed over the range 6–42μg/ml at 450 nm. The colour is stable for 72 hours. The metal can be extractively separated from several noble and other metals.
