Summary
An improved nitrometer for theDumas nitrogen determination is described. The nitrometer has a stop valve of Daiflone (difluoroethylene polymer) replacing the top stopcock used in the conventional nitrometer. The volume of nitrogen in the nitrometer can be measured directly without a levelling operation and reduction to the volume under atmospheric pressure is carried out by using a correction curve. As the nitrometer is constructed without rubber tubing, many troubles caused by rubber tubing are removed.
